jane + taylor + eddie too
Here is little sampling of photos from Jane & Taylor’s engagement session. I worked with Sasha from Rothwell Photgraphy on the styling…our props were from Ben at Stonegate Event Rentals.
Jane & Taylor brought their dalmation eddie…who I fell madly in love with. He is as sweet as he looks… and I think managed to be in almost every single photo with Jane &...
harriet + zoran: their e-shoot!
As part of Rothwell Photography’s Love Story Contest, Harriet + Zoran won an engagement shoot styled by Sasha and myself. My brother, Ben, from Stonegate Event Rentals supplied the fun props!
Wine was really important to Zoran and his family’s traditions — so we incorporated a wine picnic into their shoot! More photos to come!

Mother’s Day is just around the bend!
If you would like to give your mother-dearest a little somethin’ special… consider giving her a ditty bag! They are made from repurposed and vintage materials… no two are alike, so each one is as unique as your mom!
You can send in a piece of fabric, and have it made into a custom ditty bag (email me at dickie@justalittleditty.com for...
a little sneak peak!
Here is a sneak peak of a custom collection of ditty bags that I recently designed and made for an upcoming wedding. The bride requested bags in blues, greens and yellows — to coordinate with her wedding colors. The bridesmaids are wearing organic green J.Crew dresses— so we wanted to set them apart with their ditty bags: all similar but different!
Can you guess which bags is the...

style me pretty please
One of the things I love most about my job is meeting so many wonderful, creative people. McKinley was no exception. The girls at Easton Events showed her one of my ditty bags and suggested that she talk to me about making custom ditty bags for her and her bridesmaids. We hit it off like peas and carrots.
After talking to McKinley we decided to ask her bridesmaids for a piece of meaningful fabric...

one sweet day...
Lauren is a sweet friend of mine, and also one of the talented chicas behind the floral designer of Sugar Magnolias (if you haven’t seen their work — take a peak at Maureen & Danny’s wedding here!). Lauren got married this summer at a family farm in Barboursville, Virginia.
Her wedding was filled with DIY touches— including old doors that her dad made into tables....

from those to these...
A few months ago, Alexis, one of my sweet brides — sent me this big box of clothes. She included a detailed note with the ditty bags she had designed for her friends and family. Using her ties, dresses, pants, shirts and skirt I snipped and pinned (then sewed!) her bags together. Here are a few of the finished products!

Liz & Matt's Montalto Rehearsal Dinner
Here are a few photos from Liz and Matt’s Rehearsal Dinner at Montalto. It was quite an evening and I was thrilled to be a part of it!
Montalto is the mountaintop just above Montciello, Jefferson referred to it as the “high mountain” while Monticello rested on his “little mountain”. As you drive up to the house you find yourself looking down onto Jefferson’s...

I am working with Peter & Cheryl to plan their wedding this spring just outside of Charlottesville. They met up with Sarah Cramer to take their engagement pictures last weekend… How sweet are they?
Engagement pictures are definitely a fun trend. Not only do you get some great shots of you and your sweetie — you get comfortable in front of the camera so it’s not such a worry...

McKinley's ditty bags...
When McKinley Childress called me to ask if I’d make ditty bags for her and her bridesmaids my answer was, of course, yes. I asked about the details of her wedding — and asked her to take me through what colors she wanted to incorporate. She talked about the wanting her wedding decor loose and elegant, nothing too structured. She (like me) adores vintage fabrics because of their...

Maureen & Danny
So much of planning an event is focusing on the large picture, securing the vendors, negotiating contracts, planning the beats of the wedding day, reviewing timelines with vendors, etc.
The good stuff, the really good stuff, are the little things.
I loved every bit of planning Maureen’s wedding with her. Once we had nailed down the big picture (which, don’t get me wrong, is every...

new beginnings
A few months ago Bridget Dalton sent me an email asking me if she could mail me her mom’s wedding dress to repurpose and make into ditty bags. When I opened the package from her, I found the most breathtaking wedding dress with incredible lace details on the sleeves and alongside the bottom hem. It was beautiful. I hung it in my office for a month before I could make myself cut into...
lucky in love
Sometimes I feel like the luckiest person in the world. I plan special days for special people and then I get to watch them enjoy the happiest day {yet} of their lives… surrounded by the people they love most in the world.
This weekend Liz & Matt were married in the middle of the mountains at Castle Hill Barn. They had smiles on their faces the entire weekend — and you can see...
