one sweet day…

Lauren is a sweet friend of mine, and also one of the talented chicas behind the floral designer of Sugar Magnolias (if you haven’t seen their work — take a peak at Maureen & Danny’s wedding here!). Lauren got married this summer at a family farm in Barboursville, Virginia.

Her wedding was filled with DIY touches— including old doors that her dad made into tables. Lauren made table runners out of blues and greens — colors she incorporated throughout her day. Her aunt made a ribbon wall, a friend made the cake stand. It was a community event — and showed off everyone’s multi-talents.

As a thank you to all the women who helped Lauren with her wedding (and of course her bridesmaids!) she brought me the table runners and custom ordered ditty bags to give as thank you gifts.

I love the way they turned out — blue and green will always be one of my favorite color combinations.

Below are the bags — and a few photos from her sweet home Virginia wedding!!

Love is all around!!!
Happy Valentine’s Day!

from those to these…

A few months ago, Alexis, one of my sweet brides — sent me this big box of clothes. She included a detailed note with the ditty bags she had designed for her friends and family. Using her ties, dresses, pants, shirts and skirt I snipped and pinned (then sewed!) her bags together. Here are a few of the finished products!

Liz & Matt’s Montalto Rehearsal Dinner

Here are a few photos from Liz and Matt’s Rehearsal Dinner at Montalto. It was quite an evening and I was thrilled to be a part of it!

Montalto is the mountaintop just above Montciello, Jefferson referred to it as the “high mountain” while Monticello rested on his “little mountain”. As you drive up to the house you find yourself looking down onto Jefferson’s house and the land surrounding Monticello— it’s absolutely spectacular. So to do an event on the top was very much an honor. Not only are the views of Charlottesville breathtaking, but the house lent itself as an intimate setting for a night of celebration with great food, friends, family and plenty of toasts to go around.

They teamed their rehearsal dinner at Montalto with their wedding ceremony & reception at Castle Hill Barn — It was truly a Virginia experience.

Special thanks to Beehive Events for the stunning decor, the Rock Barn for the yummy eats, and Eric Kelley for these photographs.

{this is Liz & Matt practicing their first dance… stay tuned for THAT video! It’s the king of first dances…!}

i found this in my inbox! definitely worth sharing!
hope you’re having a great weekend!

Happy 2012!
Today I heard a wedding officiant describe why he loves being a part of wedding ceremonies and why your vows should be personal and  full of meaning… and it resonated with me.
“Love is the most important thing we get to run after in life”
It’s true, isn’t it? If you don’t have love, what do you have?
