welcome to ditty…

That’s me, Dickie. It’s short for Dickinson, my middle name. It’s a family name…ironically enough, both my mom and dad have sisters named Dickie/Dickey. It’s a unique name and I love it.

I’ve always loved quotes, cards, words of encouragement. I love making things, creating something from nothing. In college I had a greeting card company. I made and sold handmade greeting cards. There was an older man who would buy one a week and send it to his daughter in Colorado. When I stopped making them, he bought every card I had left. It makes me smile to think about it. And it’s one of the reasons I’m working on a new card line… (now if I could just find him…)

Almost nothing makes me happier than to witness a random act of kindness, see a family together out for an after-dinner walk, or open my mailbox to find some good old fashioned snail mail from a friend. The connections we have are what make the world go round. For me, they are everything.

And that’s why I created just a little ditty…

I wanted to create a place to write and to share my love of photography. I wanted to make a place that would bring people together in the spirit of positivity. And I wanted to create a place that was real. Peeling through the archives of this blog you’ll find quotes that inspire me, pictures that make me laugh and songs that keep me tapping my toes. You’ll read about tough moments and times when it was easier to cry than it was to smile. But for the most part — you’ll discover my inspirations and what makes me tick.

It’s been three years since I started just a little ditty. I love it more today than I ever have. It has connected me in ways I’ve never imagined…

And I have a feeling, the journey has just begun…
