2019 Wedding Trends
- Hanging floral installations: Architectural details are always some of our favorite moments in a event’s design and hanging installations (like the one featured in the above image from Conor + Mica’s Pippin Hill wedding) are a divine way to execute them. While obviously not a new thing to hit the wedding scene, we think suspended florals are gaining in popularity because of the visual impact they give a space. A lot of the venues in the Charlottesville area especially have high ceilings and instead of using tall centerpieces that can sometimes block the view of the guest across from you, incorporating a hanging installation gives you the grandiose feel while allowing guests to maintain a clear visual line.
- Metallics: Sparkle will never go out of style, and it’s certainly proving true in 2018. However, while silver, gold and rose toned hues used to be the main players, we’re now starting to see a lot of copper and zinc thrown into the mix. Metallics are the perfect neutral, easily working in to any color scheme. From calligraphy to attire to tablescapes, the possibilities are endless. Want to get really adventurous? Mixing metallics (a personal fave of ours) can take your aesthetic to a whole new level.
- Colored candles: This trend is very popular right now and it’s so easy to see why. What better way to bring an unexpected pop of color to your tablescapes than with colored candles? From bright bursts to dark, moody hues it works in any color scheme. And you don’t have to stick with tapers on your reception tables (though that’s obviously a fave). There are endless possibilities from votives to pillars worked in to different vignettes within your design plan – think escort card displays and cocktail hour décor. This is one trend we hope sticks around for the long haul!
- Destination weddings: We don’t know about you but we’ve been invited to and have been booked to plan more and more destination weddings. This is one trend that will never go away. For the couple who wants an intimate affair that simultaneously treats their guests to a mini vacay – destination weddings are the way to go. It can be a completely random location or a spot that embraces your family’s heritage or culture as a couple. Either way, destination weddings offer a fantastic way for guests to spend valuable time together celebrating your new marriage.
