First thing’s first. My name's Dickie, short for my middle name, Dickinson. Growing up as a triplet meant I’ve been part of a team since inception. (My parents were role models of coordination, planning, and fairness!).

For the last 12 years, I’ve worked as an event planner,  first in London, then in Charlottesville, VA. After six years working with well-known companies, I went off on my own in 2010.

“Just a little ditty…” began as a blog in 2008 with a simple purpose: to share inspirations with the world. From poems, quotes, and hand crafted, letter press note cards to my hand-sewn ditty bags, eventually my side passion project merged with my professional talents. I found my calling in curating events that brought forth joy and gratitude to loved ones gather together.

Wedding planning lends itself to ingenuity and inspiration, whether I’m making the most of a budget, transforming a rustic barn into an ethereal experience, or designing details that nod to the couple’s story. I love the countless opportunities to be creative, finding angles that make every event custom-made, and helping the day unfold as naturally and seamlessly as possible.

I want my clients to experience their wedding day in its entirety. I remember during my own reception, when the caterer approached me with a question. I cheerfully directed him to my wedding planner, Maureen, and promptly forgot about it.

During my wedding, I didn't worry about a single thing. And that’s my goal for each of our brides — let us do all the worrying so you can cherish these once-in-a-lifetime moments.

Because life well lived is about making moments, both big or small, into lasting, meaningful memories.

Planning a wedding can be overwhelming and emotional with the seemingly endless options (thank you Pinterest!), and the unsolicited advice that can come from everywhere. But with over 10 years of event experience in both corporate events and weddings, I will guide you through the process, so that it is fun, as stress-free as possible and easy.

When I’m not planning events, you'll find me at home with my husband Dan and our one year-old Fitz (short for Fitzpatrick) who keeps me on my toes! I also love going to UVA football, basketball and baseball games with my Dad (Wahoowa!). The first weekend of college football and March Madness are my favorite times of year. I’m fortunate enough that my family lives here in Charlottesville, so I get to spend a lot of time with my spunky niece Ava and adorable nephew Noah, to whom I am “Aunt Mo.” My husband Danny and I will visit a winery any chance we get, whether here or somewhere else in the world, as we like to think we know something about wine. One of my goals is to visit every major wine region in the world….sometime soon! We take every opportunity we can to travel and have loved our recent trips to Sonoma, Mexico, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Poland, Australia and New Zealand.

Oh and I love a good dance party. Once the wedding is underway, you can often find me standing in the corner of the room discreetly bopping to the music.

Hospitality is the best thing about the south and, in my mind, the best thing about weddings and events. I love helping guests feel thought of with every element from the save the date to the after party. With 10 years of experience in event planning, I know a thing or two about making your guests feel the love weaved into the design of your special celebration.

My style comes from an inherent love for classic design with modern twists. I am named after my grandmothers whom I try to emulate in both style and grace every day. When I'm not planning events I am most likely spending my time laughing with my sports-obsessed husband, Mike (go Dukes and Hoos!), and our chubby cheeked infant twin girls Cam and Ellie. Life for me would be a little more dull without coffee, my friends and family, traveling, hydrangeas, a good book, the Blue Ridge Mountains, or Mexican food. And yes, those are in ranking order.

Hands down my favorite thing about weddings (besides all the pretty details) is the ceremony. Each one is different - yet each one has the same moment where a couple locks eyes and shares a knowing glance full of love before they start their lives together. I get goose bumps every time! A good marriage is one of life's greatest treasures. To be able to be a part of the beginning of that, by helping our sweet couples plan such a special moment in their lives, is truly a blessing.

hello there

Hello from our West Coast Office!

Although this southern girl wasn’t sure what to think when my dear hubby told me we were selling the house, packing our bags (our puppy include, thank goodness!) and leaving our beloved hometown of Charlottesville, San Francisco has graciously welcomed us and allowed me to open the doors for a just a little ditty takeover.

I’ve busied myself researching just a few of my favorite things: the cooler than cool fashions, the unbelievable scenery, the many varieties of wine, fresh oysters from the coast, fun and funky libations, plenty of stinky and not-so-stinky cheeses, caravans on caravans of food trucks, donuts, more donuts, anything that looks like a donut, and anything that could be mistaken for a donut to name a few. If it’s out there, I’ve tried and can’t wait to share in the experience with you!

Aside from indulging in the fringe benefits of event planning, logistics are my jam! I truly love putting the puzzle together and organizing the details! I love the energy of a room in celebration, the late nights, creating the calm in the craziness, and the carefully orchestrated frenzy of the inner workings—and the moment it all comes together.

With more than a decade of planning and executing non-profit, corporate, and private events – I continue to feel honored to be a part of every production and to have the opportunity to create a seamless experience for you and your guests on the most important of days. Cheers to you in your adventure ahead, may we cross paths along the way!
